Hello! I was wondering if anyone can help me find information on the DTS version of the QUAD MIXES? Who where behind them? Produced? Decoded? Anything..? I signed up for them on a tree a loong time ago but nothing happened and then I got them from a torrent somewhere on the internet. I am currently working on some cover art for them and I was wondering if any of you guys could help me with some info on them? It would be nice if I could give proper credits on the cover to the people involved and maybe have some additional info on the covers like "liner notes" or something. Happy to get any answer and feedback. Take a look at some previous here, they might change a bit before they are done biut this will give you in idea: http://www.flickr.com/photos/9183410@N07/

Welcome to this oldfield site! If yo speak spanish we talked about this in this topic http://www.mike-oldfield.es/respuesta.asp?idtopic=1993&idforo=1 Basically they were made by a fan that had the vinyls in quad version. Maybe some other users of the website can help you better than me. Great artwork by the way... 21 Enero 2008, 0:05:18 |

Hi Robtch Those CDs were made by a collector who decoded the SQ mixes of Exposed and Boxed from the comercial CDs (which still preserves the quad mixes) and encoded the four channels using DTS format (which is a more available system today). Also did the same with a pseudo-quad version of TB in CD-4 (nothing to do with Compact Disc) extracted from an LP. The resulting CDs can be played with a DTS decoder (included in nearly every DVD player) which is much more easy to find than an SQ decoder. Later, Marcus Junglas, from the AML, extracted the SACD mix of TB and encoded it to DTS (it looks like an easy work, but all these transfers were quite hard AFAIK). The SACD and the TB from Boxed came from the same quad mix, but the QS system didn't have a real separation of the 4 channels, so the SACD transfer to DTS is also interesting for those which doesn't have a SACD player. 21 Enero 2008, 22:34:06 |

Hi Spinne! Thank you very much for the information. I will keep you guys posted on the progress of the cover art. I have decided to make them in DVD size as it makes it a little more exclusive, I believe they deserve it. Previews are posted here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/9183410@N07/ Thanks everybody and keep up the good work! 22 Enero 2008, 10:08:57 |

A few weeks ago I downloaded the Quad mix to DTS from Ommadawn via torrent, but it´s not a real Quad mix, is only a pseudo quad made using reverbs and frequency effects. By the size of the file, it´s the most common file in the internet of "OMMADAWN quad to DTS". I want the real Quadrophonic mix of this opus (TB, HR, OMM, and EXPOSED). The same with the Herfest Ridge that I downloaded. Regards! 22 Enero 2008, 11:26:57 |

Neither do I 'cause I don't have a surround system. You also must notice, that the SQ system didn't really have four channels but only two. The quad information was encrypted in those two so probably the surround mix won't play as clear as modern systems (DTS, Dolby Pro-Logic...). 24 Enero 2008, 18:16:49 |
